How can I get to the beach by automobile?

Jones Beach State Park is located at Ocean Parkway and Wantagh Parkway, Wantagh, NY 11793 Via Auto: From Westchester, Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens: Long Island Expressway East or Grand Central parkway East to Northern State Parkway East to Wantagh parkway South to Jones Beach State Park or Belt/Southern State Parkway East to Wantagh Parkway South to State Park. From Eastern Long Island: Northern State Parkway West or Southern State parkway West to Wantagh parkway South to State Park. Is there a fee to park?

A vehicle access fee of $8.00 will be collected as of April 7th and will be collected for those entering the Park weekends beginning at 6 am and weekdays beginning at 8 am.

Is there a season pass for parking?

You can purchase an Empire Passport for $59.00 at the Administration Building which is good at all State Parks or use the Empire Passport link on our Website to purchase it online. Available for only $59, the Passport can be used from April 1 to March 31 of the following year and pays for itself in 8 visits. A discounted rate of $50 is available for the purchase of a second passport, when purchased at the same time as the first passport, for a vehicle in the same household. This may be used on a boat, motorcycle or a second passenger vehicle. Online applications are processed first come, first served along with those that arrive by mail and by phone and may take 3-4 weeks to process.

Can I get to the beach by Long Island Bus?

Wil there be an air show at Jones Beach this year?

The Bethpage Federal Credit Union Air Show featuring the Air Force Thunderbirds will be held at Jones Beach, Memorial Day weekend, May 26th and 27th, 2007. Check our Internet Links page for more information.

Yes barbequing is available only at the Fishing Piers (Field 10) and at Zachs Bay (from Field 5).

When is the Theodore Roosevelt Nature Center open?

Between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends the Nature Center is open on Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Open weekends the rest of the year from 10:00 a.m. - 4 p.m. Nature Center can be opened at other times for groups upon advance request.

What kinds of activities are available at the Theodore Roosevelt Nature Center?

The Nature Center is on a barrier island beach within Jones Beach State Park. An exhibit area depicts a variety of marine habitats including the South Shore Estuary Reserve, the seashore and the dune environment. There are lots of fun things for kids to do. Inside children can feel live marine animals, look through a children's microscope or play in the kid's activity area. Outside the children can dig up whale bones in the Discovery Bone Cove, walk through the butterfly garden or view a shipwreck. An environmental boardwalk takes you out into the dune environment to see plants and animals that live there. Interpretive programs are available for schools, youth organizations, clubs and the general public.

We are a privately funded organization not affiliated in any way with Jones Beach State Park, the Long Island Park Commission or any agency of New York State.
